Lord Shiva has many names. The 108 names of Shiva are collectively known as Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali. ‘Shata’ means ‘100’, ‘Ashta means ‘8’, and ‘namavali ‘means ‘collection of names’. Most of these names are found in the Shiva Purana. Reciting the Shiva Ashtottara shatanamavali brings many benefits. It can cure illness, remove fears and sorrows, attract good fortune, and raise our consciousness.
